IceMusic Festival - Geilo :: IceMusic Festival 2012

Ice Music Festival will be arranged the first weekend in February. Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th of February 2012. As previous years the festival will be arranged on a frozen lake at Kikut.

The program of IceMusic Festival 2012 is not yet finished, but we can promise a nice variety of artistic expressions which includes among others the Bill Covitz show, Ice-meditation and the traditional Midnight concert where Terje Isungset will perform songs from his album Winter Song.

The ice instrument of the year will be presented at the first concert. What kind of instrument that will be is not yet official, so please sign up for our newsletter for additional information regarding this.

IceMusic Festival in collaboration with Kikutkroa will give our guest the opportunity to taste and experience locally produced traditional Norwegian food in combination with the unique and evocative experience of ice music at the Ice Music Festival 2012. Kikutkroa is a restaurant located close to the IceMusic Festival arena, which gives our guests a unique opportunity to experience local traditions in combination with one of the worlds most unique music festivals. It is not possible (and therefore we'll never try) to recreated the moment that is produced and shared between the audience, artist and the nature at Ice Music Festival.

The reason for this is the fact that the winter conditions and the temperature decides the quality and sound of the ice instruments. The stage, venue and decoration is made of snow and ice. In other words; the festival is totally dependent of the nature and the cold climate. That is why IceMusic Festival is arranged by Høve Støtt Hallingdal , a eco tourism company at Geilo. All of their activities and experiences are based on the nature and they have a strong focus on being a part of, and at the same time preserve, the nature in their daily work

We welcome you all to one of the most unique music experiences in 2012. Each festival and each concert is a once in a lifetime experience. Never to be recreated.

The day is here! IceMusic Festival 2011

Today starts IceMusic Festival 2011 and it is ready for the world premiere. World's first langeleik of ice will be presented and played on by the Aastad Bråten brothers.
